interventions aimed at the prevention of civil wars and the promotion of peace are many and varied. In recent years, there are more and more concrete examples - both international organizations and non-governmental reality - who work in this direction. The area of \u200b\u200bintervention in areas of civil conflict has then rapidly changing and updating and became an important crossroads for those who wish to deal with peace processes globally, humanitarian assistance in complex situations or, more generally, international cooperation.
content and educational objectives
The course aims to provide a general introduction on the interventions in the areas of civil conflict. Will analyze the key concepts of conflict theory, nonviolence, and their various forms. Participants will learn the tools and basic skills for the management, resolution and transformation of violent conflict. It is also a simulation exercise of a third party intervention in conflicts and test its role in this context. These basic elements will be integrated and critical analysis of the way of humanitarian intervention and, finally, by the prospect of civil action for peace in Italy and the European Union. Participants will thus offer an overview of the sector to orient and then be prepared for future educational and professional choices.
At the end of the training participants:
- They will define, analyze and use the basic concepts in concrete situations of conflict, peace, violence and nonviolence.
- have developed the awareness of basic skills and their role in a context of conflict.
- introductory has tools for understanding the different types of interventions and will distinguish between the use of nonviolence in the struggle and socio-political intervention of a third party.
- will learn about practical examples of interventions of peacemaking, peacekeeping, peacebuilding and the relevance of contextual (including nearby areas such as humanitarian intervention).
- They understand the difference between different models and different institutional visions of action for peace in Italy and Europe.
The students will actively participate in sessions to learn not only trainers but also by interacting as a group. The course will use different teaching approaches, such as group work, simulations and video.
